Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

It was the Farmer’s Market fever that got me. Oh come on, you know what I’m talking about. It’s the fresh mounds of just picked this morning, or possibly last night’s produce, plucked straight from Mother Nature’s arms. The fragrances, vivid colors, the textures, the .   .   .  Oooooops sorry! I just remembered that this isn’t suppose to be a food blog. Laughing out loud .   .   .   a lot!  My excuse?  I guess I got carried away between the romaine, endive, basil, and arugula. What can I say? The earthiness of the market just calls to my five senses. Yes,yes, I am fully aware that one of the five senses is hearing .   .   . people, people, hear me out (no pun intended .   .   . weelllll .   .   .  maybe just an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny one)!  Haven’t you ever heard the crunchy sound when biting into a piece of a cold crisp wedge of lettuce, or the snap of a celery stick?  Whoa! .   .   . sorry, sorry .   .   . O k, I’m back on track .   .   . fingers crossed. This is all about the plates, or bowls.

Caesar, Waldorf, classic wedge, spinach-bacon, kale, stuffed-avocado, curried-chicken, tuna, three-bean, cucumber, miso-tofu, seafood, beet with goat cheese, watermelon-feta, fruit .   .   . and on, and on, and on!!! .   .   . Whoa! .   .   . Enough of the possibilities! Let’s move on to the photo below that hopefully will spark your imagination. From the simplest, to the most embellished of salad presentation, it still has to start with something to put it in!!! The large African salad bowl with pattern infused, and  buffed to a stunning ” please use me” as much as possible look. The more you use wood, the  richer the grain comes to the surface, just shouting to be lovingly used as much as possible. Whoa, whoa, whoa .   .   . hang on a second, we’re not quite finished with your salad orientation. Sooo to wind up my salad serving #101, I need to tell all of you not to ignore the importance, as well as the unique quality a glass plate has to offer. A time tested way to serve and enjoy a crisp salad is with a very cold plate, just whisked from the freezer, and paired with an equally chilled salad fork. No glass, porcelain, pottery .   .   . no worries .   .   . you still have that very chilled fork!
