Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m  bringing to the table ©

I have tried .   .   . honestly .   .   . I have given it my all .   .   . but trying to slow the calendar down, is like my trying to conjure up rain for water deprived  California!!! We all know how well that’s worked out .   .   . right?  So like most things in life .   .   . you learn to embrace what you can not change.

The first Monday in September is automatically, and officially designated Labor Day in the United States, and Canada. Now I can’t speak for Canada  .  .  .  butttt .   .   . Friday before Labor Day has, over the years, become “the” new and improved kick off to a long lazy, party hearty, stress free, Labor Day!!! This is “the ultimate let it all hang out weekend”! No fancy-schmancy, labor intensive, formal dinners. Uh-uh .   .   . no way, not even for me!!!!! Please .   .   . how boring life would be, NOT stepping out-of-the-box, or at least running your toe over that proverbial line.

Now before you get tooooo carried away people, remember the luscious photo above. Yes I am giggling because, I know, oh so many of you have eaten every morsel with your eyes!  ‘Don’t shoot the messenger!’ Now there is casual, and then there is downright sloppy, and I don’t mean a Sloppy Joes sandwich! There is no doubt, that the incredible edible sandwich by itself would get your juices flowing, but put it on a board, and surround it with the very morsels that went into the making of such a spectacular feast!!!! People .  .  . people, presentation, is the name of the game!!!!

The sandwich above took very little effort to make .   .   . honest! Yes .   .  . I will grant you it took a ton of goodies to pull that village together! Dressing it up was like accessorizing a room. Gorgeous bell peppers, extra tomatoes, a clove or two of garlic, and a touch of imagination for extra measure. Large bowls of potato salad, coleslaw, potato chips, extra pickles, Russian dressing, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and don’t forget the ice filled tub holding  beer, soda, and how about mini bottles of champagne. Don’t forget the straws! Drinking champagne thru a straw .    .   . hmm .   .   . what can I say .   .   . it just walks that fine line between Mmm .   .   . Ooo .   .   . and .   .   . Ahhhh .   .   . really!

Don’t go to far, because I’ve got dessert for you .   .   . next week.
