Dishing it up/ with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

When the sun goes down .   .   . there’s a whole lot more to life than beating your feet on the Mississippi Mud.*

O k .   .   . so now you want to know like what .   .   . right? Welll .   .   . funny you should ask because .   .   . I’ve brought along my little ‘what to do ‘ bag, in case beating your feet on the Mississippi Mud is not on your agenda either. But before I get you all involved in the what .   .   . just click on the photo above and take a tour of this weeks tablescape. Whoa nelly!!! .   .   . a couple of you ran thru my table setting so fast it’s a miracle that my china didn’t shatter! Umm .   .   . excuse me missy .   .   . mm hm .   .   . yes you .   .   . oh please .   .   . do me a favor and take another peek .   .   . I promise it won’t hurt, it can only help .   .   . honest. Did you notice the inverted bowls .   .   . turquoise for pop over lime green glass? How did I keep them from falling off .   .   . candle holder wax tabs .   .   . similar to earthquake wax.

I see no reason to dine cave man style just because the sun has set and the evening air has settled a smidgen below nippy .  .   . yes, yes true .   .   . for some of you .   .   .  it has spiraled down to frigid temps. So here is one of my many, many tricks in my little ‘what to do’ bag. When it’s raining or cloudy, snowing, hailing, and far worse black ice .   .   . think lush gardens, bursting with brilliantly colored flowers. No greens or flowers available .   .   . no worries. Drag out your Spring/ Summer linens, dishes, and mix in very light colored candles. For this table setting I picked a sage colored cloth, and alternated with pink and sage napkins. I used cream colored crocheted edge napkins that I gathered into the center of each napkin (see photo below), and secured each one with a handmade glass beaded napkin ring. I rested a rose alongside each place setting, using a florist tube filled with water to keep them fresh.

Now for the whimsey .   .   . my rabbit candle holder along with my vintage Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatters hold court throughout the evening. Now add pots of t-lites in front of each place setting and scattered around the table for warm, soothing, and very flattering atmosphere!

P S  This blog is a bit shorter than my usual, because .   .   . I am in the process of finishing my very first Children’s Book .   .   . geared for parents with children under 4 years old.  I will keep you all posted!

* Mississippi Mud Lyrics written in 1927 by Harry Barris and James Cavanaugh, recorded by old time greats Bing Crosby, Ray Charles, and Dean Martin.

Don’t forget clusters of votives in cups, to be used as up lights that are always flattering, but not intrusive. (trim wick to 1/4”- 3/8” before burning) Please burn candles responsibly.

You should make a calendar of your 12 favorite center pieces. I would hang it in my room. 🙂
