The countdown begins!

It’s finally that time of year when flip-flops and shorts move to the front of the closet. That magical weekend we call Memorial Day when we are miraculously set free. Free from everyday ho-hum and same-old same-old. With the mere flip of a calendar page, life changes gears much like a boat that has been running at break-neck speed, when suddenly with one fell swoop it has been downshifted to one of idling gently with the sway of the wake. Granted life doesn’t come to a grinding halt but .   .   . the day to day gears have a way of slowing down to an easy tempo. . Lol! Ooooops sorry. Nooooo. Hello, I’m not suggesting that you give up your day job. Let’s not forget that    in most cases it’s the green-backs that pay for all of the summer party-time fun.

A fun mason jar with the cute handle pictured above, is filled with whipped summer magic of delicious fruits that are now popping up around us. Yes, I know .   .  . yummy! Let’s take these yummies one step further by filling them almost to the brim and burying them in a wide brimmed bucket of ice. Each jar gets a piece of fruit and a straw with the sweet little spoons attached to one end. Now let’s step it up a bit with a sprig of basil, or mint. Did I mention a spear of jicama hmm? Well here’s another bump up to give you a  new and different taste. Refrigerate jicama spears soaked in white wine, vodka, white rum or your favorite tequila and then anchor a piece on the edge of the jar. I don’t know about any of you but .  .   . I can say first hand, yummy  yummy in my tummy!
