“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream…”

How many times have you cried these very words? A cry that can be heard around the world on any given day or hour. But this Sunday is an ice cream lover’s dream. So don’t forget to celebrate National Ice Cream Day this Sunday July 21st. From wee-ones to old-ones .   .   . who doesn’t love ice cream? Of course you can eat it out of the container, but .   .   . as you know .   .   . I do need my ambiance. The ice cream bowl shown above, is made to chill in the freezer until your ready to fill it with your favorite fix.

Looking for a root beer float, or a black cow, as they call it in the mid-west? Look no further. I found these insulated mugs at a 99 cent store years ago and keep them in my freezer year round. Not only does it deliver ‘the best’  root beer float, but moonlights for the frothiest ice cold beer possible. If you are looking to serve an ice cold gazpacho, watermelon, or vichyssoise soup, then these freezer puppies are a must!

Oh please .   .   . I wouldn’t think of leaving you without  one of my cold easy-to do-soups.

Watermelon soup: 6 cups cubed/seedless watermelon, 1/2 lime, 1-2 tbs. honey, 1/2 tsp. grated ginger, dash of kosher salt, 2 tbsp. fresh chopped mint leaves. If you like a little kick to your soup, add a half to a whole Jalapeño, or other choice when blending.

Using a blender/ food processor, fill with watermelon, lime, champagne, or sweet Proseco, or Moscato, ginger, mint, honey, and salt. Blend until smooth and then run blender for an additional minute or so until smooth and frothy.

Garnish: zest of a lime, Crème Fraiche, dollop of sour cream, or feta crumbles, chopped pistachios, or pecans.

Store in refrigerator for at least a few hours for full flavor. Whip mixture in a cold blender for a minute before serving in cold bowls, mugs, shot glasses etc.. Soup will hold in refrigerator for a couple of days and should be whipped up when serving.
