Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

Waste not, want not .   .   . words that I live by .   .   . welllll .   .   . most of the time. Pleeeeassse nobody’s perfect!

These wonderful hand painted gourds seen above, are hot off last weeks fall table. What was that? You missed it ? No worries, just click http://wp.m/p3E2rZ-5eM and get caught up to speed. The larger of the two gourds, bought several years ago, is a signed piece of art, done by an artist who unfortunately passed away soon after I acquired this gorgeous addition. I took both pears/gourds and began to layer eucalyptus, pumpkins, grape vines, home grown fallen leaves and more .   .   . yes more .   .   . smaller dried gourds. Oh come on .   .   . you know you can never have enough gourds when doing a fall table. To give this table a touch or two .   .   . mmm .   .   . well maybe three touches of accent, I added a bunch of  wheat, tied with a strap of leather, a hand thrown earthenware chalice to hold a pumpkin with grape vines, and earthenware cups. Candles .   .   . as always .   .   . mixed sizes, keeping them lower than the conversation across the table, and don’t forget the up lights .   .   . as in votives and t-lites.

One of my many pleasures in life that I make reference to in my book ” a collection of . . . Tableofferings™ from the go to expert tablescaper” is when I open my storage cabinets. Zap .   .   . wow .   .  . oooow weeee .   .   . be still my heart .   .   . then .   .   . oh yes, you guessed it .   .   . my pulse kicks into high gear and I am on the best in-house shopping spree imaginable! Seeing all of my collected goodies, some of which are bits and pieces that have no visible mate or companion, just sitting and waiting for me to invite them out to play. And another one of my pleasures in life happens to be the excitement of paring a stray piece of pottery, porcelain, metal etc. with the most unlikely combination and it whispers .   .   . thanks, I like it here.

Seen below are two separate colored napkins gathered up into one simple grape vine ring combining the rich variegated hues. Greens, and gold mixed together gives it  that direct punch of burnt orange and fall green to the dinner, salad, and soup bowl table setting.
