Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ©

Bold can be exciting, enticing, and down right mesmerizing. This is the time of year when my tablescapes become my indoor garden, taking on the incredible colors that are popping up in outdoor gardens everywhere. I bring my vibrant spring tables to life by boldly going where most mortal men/women dare not go with a mixture of patterns, textiles, textures and yes, yes, yessss .   .   . lots and lots of colors.   .   . tons of colors!!! You know the colors I am talking about? The colors that got shoved to the back of your closet a few months ago. Oh please .   .   . do you really think I don’t know what’s going on in your cupboards? Lol .  .   . it’s not that I am spying .   .   . pleeeeze .   .   .  it’s just that I’ve been known to do a touch of my own shoving to the back of the closet from time to time. Do I hear snickering people? Do you think recycling, and reinventing in order to bring you my little table jewels is a snap???

The tablescape above is all about splashes of color that looks as vibrant as the inside of a freshly cut lime, and the rich color on the skin of an eggplant. I then added orange, the color of a sunburst, and dusted the dishes here and there with the color blue that is as deep and delicious looking as fresh picked blueberries. Each place setting is done in its own color wardrobe. For an added touch of fun, each setting has a tiny square plate just big enough to act as a knife rest. Who just whispered that the knife rests are in assorted bright tones, wins a smile of appreciation, and a thank you for paying attention! See below for the finished product. The textile strewn across part of the table is from Malaysia that I bartered for with a pretty beaded bracelet that I was wearing .   .   . and well worth the trade! Hand thrown ceramic chalices, perfect for a change of pace. The best, and most fun part, was scrambling all these dishes together with just the right amount of quirk.
