Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®
2017 is the year of THE FIRE RED ROOSTER! January 28th, begins the Chinese New Year and the start of the spring festival in Asian cultures. What was that? Someone just shouted out “do you need to be Chinese to celebrate”. Of course not! The only requirement for this celebration is to love Asian cuisine. Lol . . . no you don’t have to smoke a cigar, or drink a martini . . . but if your selecting from column A or column B, I would opt for column B . . . the martini. Ummmmm . . . I’m just saying.

Below is “my” take on a Fire Red Rooster. You do know that I can hear some of you snickering. Shhh . . . as Ricky used to say to Lucy, “let me splain“. Hang on and let me tell you the history my red crowned rooster . . . which, by the way looks sooo much larger in candlelight . . . honest! Now this is not any ordinary rooster . . . absolutely not! This sweetie belonged to my mother who lived for Chinese food. One could safely say that she was the queen of the Chinese circuit!
Since copper has become the new hot metal of choice, I opted to do a more farm house simple layout using blocks of wood layered with vintage copper trays as chargers. I added pops of red in honor of the Chinese New Year. Hand painted chopsticks are layered over the bowl, which will find their way to the chopstick holder sitting next to the traditional soup spoon, also nestled on a vintage copper tray. Each place setting has a mini porcelain tray holding cups for sauces. Individual Sake holders make this table setting Chinese New Years ready. Kunghei fatchoy (happiness and prosperity)!!!
