Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

Finally!!! We have a dip in the weather.   .   . hallelujah!!! Whoa, whoa, whoa .  .  . take it easy .   .   . don’t let my excitement over slightly cooler temperatures give you visions of  me screaming, yearning, and aching with desire to rush out and pick up a new pair of snow shoes! Geezzz .   .   . A temperature drop in Southern California usually puts us in the .   .   . just barely squeaking-by range .   .   .  to light the fireplace, fire-pit and out-door heaters.

Above is my Thanksgiving Day tablescape that will be enjoyed two days after Turkey- Day. Yup, that’s correct .   .   . after Turkey-Day! Why? Because it’s fun, and it keeps the holiday spirit going. Seen above is my after Turkey-Day table, laid out for all of you to see. My vintage glass Art Deco ‘Moderne’ pattern in stunning cobalt blue anchors each place setting. The second layered plate is square shaped with alternating colors of black, and lime. A salad plate serves as my third layer showing off this unique set of hand thrown and painted plates, that in turn holds a footed cup perfect for hot frothy soup (best seen in photo below). The green apple sitting in each cup brings out the fantastic mélange of colors in this playful set. Side plates, also in glass cobalt blue sit waiting for bread, butter, and/or tapenade. The center piece is my old dough bowl filled with wine vines, fallen branches, leaves, dried wheat, and a smattering of pears, and apples, intertwined with my sweet battery operated mini-lights.

Below photo captures my wonderful out-of-the-mainstream set of dishes, with a mix of lime, and rose blush tinted twisted stemware in two heights, and paired with bright colored glazed chalices (best viewed in first photo). Don’t forget to add tons of candles, but not so high that your guests won’t able to see one another, and votives for flattering up-light to dine by.
