Dishing it up / with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

Simple loving gatherings from the heart and hearth.

DSCN0967.JPG

Whether a mommy, mom, mother, mother-in-law, or special other .   .   . they all conjure up visions of homemade baked cupcakes, soup, and kisses to chase the boo-boos away from your knees, elbows, fingers, and any boogie men thought to be lurking under your bed, or secreted in your closet! Yes .   .   . your mom is the champion of all that’s yummy, pretty, and safe! O k I will admit that not everyone can or will agree with my synopsis of who, or what your mom is, or was. I was extremely fortunate to have all of these warm, and fuzzy memories mentioned above, except for the boogie men. My father was king of the boogie man watch brigade, as soon as bedtime approached.

If you would just scroll back up to my first photo, and check out one of my favorite ways to present a place setting. My grandmothers stunning petit point table cloth, with a set of black glass vintage doorknobs bracing a set of silverware. Each place setting has a different set of doorknobs, including pink glass, crystal, marble, and hand painted porcelain.

Wanting to honor your mom, grandma, or if very fortunate, your great-grandma is a laudable gesture. A gesture that doesn’t require a great deal of money, as much as a special thought, for that special Mothers Day person(s). You know the one I’m referring to, that one person(s) who has given, and given, and given .   .   .   With this thought in mind, let me give you what I call ‘simple loving gatherings from the heart and hearth’. A second glimpse of my table below, reveals hand painted tulip stemware that I found, believe it or not         .   .   . at a flea market/discount store of all places!!! Well .   .  . my attitude, as I scooped them up was .   .   . yummy .   .    .  you babies are coming home with me!!! To complete my .   .   . ‘you are special table’, I added plates of yellow, pink, and seafoam, with delicate hand painted flowers, to further emphasize the floral petit point pattern in my table cloth. To polish this setting off, I added hand crocheted napkins, and filled graceful old tins with delicate flowers of blues, lavender, and white.

Happy Mothers Day to all!!!
