I am ALL about stepping out of the box . . . as evidenced by my choice of the graphic/illustration above . . . beeeecause I could not resist this charming depiction of Mothers Day found on the internet. Generally I create and photograph my own creations, however . . . this is what gives me my self touted credibility! Some people go looking for the tried and true . . . Oh pleeeease nooooo!!! Anything but the tried and true . . . I beg of the entertaining tablescaping universe! Having made my declaration . . . yes, yes I know, I’m always declaring this and that. Now seriously, isn’t that what makes me ‘one-of-a-kind . . . and . . . out of the box?

So now you’re saying to yourself . . . self . . . where is she (meaning me) going with this declaration of ‘one-of-a-kind’? This kind of a question gives me goose bumps! Nice to hear you’re all thinking, and questioning. You now have the makings of a super duper tablescaper/host/hostess/ and event planner extraordinaire!!! Whoa people . . . not so fast . . . you may want to stick around to see what else I have in my VERY large bag of tricks . . . yes? Phew! I thought you were all heading for your cupboards and leaving me behind!

So now it’s time to get back to sugarplums and fairy dust for Mothers Day. By now you have either bought, made, or even written a Mothers Day gift. Umm . . . what was that? You haven’t gotten to it yet . . . hmmm . . . no, no I’m not judging you, just nudging you. Well maybe a bit more nudging than usual . . . what can I say, it’s my calling!! Whether you opt for breakfast in bed, brunch on the terrace, high tea at “her” special place, or reservations . . . I believe . . . this would be a very good time to gather the wagons and pick a plan!!! Easy people . . . deep breath . . . nobody needs to get unhinged. O k so maybe you’re feeling the hot breath of Mother Nature breathing down your neck. No biggie, all she’s doing is reminding you of all the loving, nurturing, sleepless nights, and rounds of soothing first aid administered to and for you, while wiping away your boo-boos and tears. Enough! I agree ! I think those of you who get it . . . will now go and get it . . . whatever it may be!

For those of you who are looking to celebrate near hearth and home, but are dealing with ‘multi-extended’ mothers, I offer the divide and conquer scenario. Mothers Day is all about the mothers not the calender date. Soooo . . . I propose a spotlight not necessarily shared, and not necessarily on ‘the’ date. Weekends consist of two, count them people . . . two days . . . not one . . . right? Below is a mere suggestion for a ‘day before soirée’ celebration with all the bells and whistles you can muster. With this spread it won’t matter whether you’re Saturdays mom, or Sundays mom! Presentation is 90% of the present!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY !!!

Well I thought my first children’s book was just days away from launch . . . but as it turns out it needed a few more tweaks . . . STILL . . . A child’s story of gentle LOVE….. I AM SOOO LUCKY !!!
