Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®
‘Tis the time to ring in the Winter Holidays . . . what better way than with a very large glass bell laid on its side, and filled with all sorts of eye dazzling goodies! Mother of pearl tree ornaments, bunches of twigs, tassels of crystals, and pears. Garlands of gold leaves, red berries, mixed with shimmering pears of red and green, and glitter dusted pine cones that glisten when itty-bitty, teeny weeny, mini string lights dance off of this wonderful glass bell. Shown in the above photo, is a cloché that normally stands tall on a wooden tray, holding whatever my fancy dictates for the moment. I have used this decorative piece in every room in my house . . . well . . . almost every room, and in many different tablescapeing escapades that I manage to get myself into!
This is ‘the’ time of year to step out, play out, and venture out . . . of the -box. This is the season for even the faint of heart to suck it up, and put it out there!!! So come on people, even I who do not do much gold or glitz, lets it all hang out come this time of year!!! I’m talking . . . if it glistens put it out there! If it twinkles put it out there!!! Look around you, do you see all that untapped potential in your home just pleading to get all dressed up, and walk the walk for the holiday season! For today . . . I’m here to help, and, or cajole you into action!!!!!! O k now that I’ve got your juices going . . . umm . . . I do have your creative juices just bursting to have at it . . . right ??? Phewww . . . It took a second for me to hear you all above the clicking of my keyboard. Soooo let’s talk tablescapeing for the holidays . . . like my new brainstorm shown below.
Ahh ah . . . no, no, this is not the time for a break . . . click on the above photo to nose around . . . I invite you to . . . I insist!!!!! O k . . . are you done perusing??? Not yet??? . . . I’ll wait. Ready?. . . Good. First layer of table cloth is a rich, deep green on green pattern, layered over with a red, and gold toned Italian motif, folded in half, and laid down the center of the full length of the table. The green accents in the top cloth play off the wide band of green on each side of the table. I have used very simple sterling flatware, and vintage cream with gold edge dinner china. For a little added pop, the green handled butter knives are vintage Bakelite. For the first course, cut crystal highball glasses have been called into action, complete with an hors d’oeuvres fork resting across the brim of the glass. Both water, red, and white wine glasses have also been woven into this table. Red napkins resting on the rich deep green table cloth give this table a rich jewel tone accent, and pop.
Candles, candles, and more candles . . . From both metallic gold/silver trees, shiny green with gold ball candles set on a very old glass and pewter handled tray, to the not to tall tower looking silver candleholders gracefully cradling a pair of formal matte finished silver tapers. Added to my firepower is a decorative glass platter holding votive holders of frosted green with gold embellishments. Cut your wicks to between 1/4″-1/2″ in length before burning. Light the candles, dim the overhead lights, flip on your music, and let the gastronomic feast begin!!!
