Dishing it up/ with Sharon Insul

Come sit with me for awhile . . .
and see what I’m bringing to the table ®

Take a dash of gold, add a splash of silver, and just a hint of bronze, mix it all up and .   .   . spread it on your table .   .   . go ahead, you can do this .   .   . I know that you have it in you to do this .   .   . this is a good thing! .   .   .  you figured it out .   .   . can’t put anything over on you. What you’re hearing is me laughing out loud!!! YUP .   .   . A new wrinkle, to an old recipe of sprinkle, twinkle, and sparkle.

I am generally not a gold person, however, it has it’s purpose, place, and most definite rewards.

Whether you are using sterling or stainless flatware, goblets etched with bands of gold will set the stage for pops of embellishments. If you are the keeper of the gold .   .   .  goblets that is .   .   . your second (and third if you choose) glass should be shorter, giving your gold edge goblet center stage. Hang on .   .   .  I’m getting to the new wrinkle, where the twinkle, sprinkle, and sparkle comes in to play.   .   .   By keeping the accent of gold at your highest point in your place setting, be it electric (on a dimmer, please), and/or tons of candle light you will see a cha-cha-cha, dancing right off the rim of your goblets .   .   . ah ha .   .   . oh yes! .   .   . as promised, I am delivering my twinkle, sprinkle, and sparkle.

Don’t have bronze, or gold edged goblets???.   .   . Easy people, it’s all good! Oh please .  .   . did you really think I wasn’t going to work this all out? Assuming that you still like the idea of the twinkle of gold majestically holding court high above your place settings, I come laden with alternatives. One of several solutions, other than purchasing gold edged goblets, is by putting a lightly misted rose (about 6″ tall) with gold metallic spray paint, or lightly dusting the edges with glitter, into individual bud vases.

These simple bud vases can easily be found in discount garden centers, etc., and depending on your place setting can also be lightly misted or dusted. My second remedy to the ‘poor me I don’t have any gold gobletsis .   .   .To make these bud vases more unique, and not the dreaded ho hum, same old same .   .   .  move out of your comfort zone, mm hmm .   .   . excuse me but, aka the little box you’ve been decorating from, snap to it, and step up your game people! Take a paper lace patterned doily, wrap it around your vase once, using a rubber band to hold it in place .   .   . Now comes the fun part .   .   . dust, or mist away. This is one of those ‘you really can’t screw it up ‘ projects. Even if you have two left hands, so to speak, this is a NO BRAINER! Give it a second or two to dry before removing paper.  Please try not to over do the dusting and misting. Less is better .  .   . really !!! You don’t want to lose that elusive, and whispy effect of the gold dancing above each place setting. Now let’s take a second here for self congratulations .   .   . or .   .   . for  that other person you quietly recruited to do the deed for you.

Wait .   .   . you can’t stop now! I will be brief .   .   . I hear some of you giggling again!!! I can do this quickly, really!!! Go for the bronze. Let’s not forget that hint of bronze, that will give your tablescape a look of richness, as well as a blanket of warmth. The darkened antique  gold patina found in so many decorative pieces around the house will do the trick beautifully. Decorative pieces can run the gamut, from small figurines, candle holders, to small plates used as coasters for one of your goblets .   .   . or even a few pieces of antique-looking jewelry strewn about the table. Phew!!!

Oh yes… class dismissed!!!!!!!

STEP  OUT OF THE BOX . . .  HAVE FUN  !!!!!!!

Candle tip for dinning:  Tall candles are indeed stately, however, misplaced or misused on a dinner table can be disastrous. Trying to have a conversation between, around, or thru a forest of tapers set ablaze, can become a daunting, and most exhausting affair. For proper placement and use stay tuned . . .
