It’s ALL in the details.  .  .

Come sit with me for awhile… and see what I’m bringing to the table

Setting a table is like building a house. Plates, silverware, and glasses are the walls .   .    .

Once you’ve got your walls up .   .   .  it’s time to turn this puppy into a home!

It’s not about how much your place settings cost, it’s what you do with them!!! A table setting is soooo much more than expensive dishes, silverware, and crystal .   .    .

mmm .   .   . hmmmm .  .  . I understand .  .  .  just about now some of you are thinking .  .  .  how much money you have invested in such and such designer plates, flatware etc., and all you have to do is throw in some flowers and your job is done .   .   . That would be a big NOT.   .   .  Hang on .   .   . here comes the fun stuff .   .   . honest !

Remember; it’s ALL in the DETAILS .   .   .

This is not only fun, but the best part of creating a tablescape* .   .   . Both photographs are studies in details, details, details .   .    . water carafe filled with sliced cucumbers (skin left on for color), glass holders with celadon** colored candles, giving  the illusion that they are almost suspended when lit. Vintage glass pedestal bowl filled with aubergine colored glass grapes for depth of color, and sharing center stage with decorative pieces from around my home.  .   . Your almost there .   .   .  Come on… step out of the box… look around you … improvise … deep breath… read on .   .  .

*I used several vases, one filled with celadon colored flowers and the other vases are holding branches of various sizes. I used an abundance of vases to block off part of the length of my table for a small dinner party. ** My choice of  the color celadon was not by accident, as it is one of the most popular colors used on glazed Chinese pieces, and the perfect showcase for a few of my antique Chinese pieces.

Yup … NOW your done!!!

More next time…
